About Asunción Christian Academy

Asunción Christian Academy came into existence as a covenant model Christian school to serve the children of Christian missionaries in Paraguay. ACA continues to serve that mission, but now includes children from expatriate and national Christian families. ACA is jointly accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and AdvancED. ACA owns a 6-unit apartment building on campus for use by the teaching staff. The building contains four 2BR units and two 3BR units. The cost to teachers is minimal, much, much less than living off-campus. There is a community laundry room and a barbecue/picnic area as well.

  • Country Summary (from the World Factbook)
Paraguay achieved its independence from Spain in 1811. In the disastrous War of the Triple Alliance (1865-70) - between Paraguay and Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay - Paraguay lost two-thirds of its adult males and much of its territory. The country stagnated economically for the next half century. Following the Chaco War of 1932-35 with Bolivia, Paraguay gained a large part of the Chaco lowland region. The 35-year military dictatorship of Alfredo STROESSNER ended in 1989, and, despite a marked increase in political infighting in recent years, Paraguay has held relatively free and regular presidential elections since the country's return to democracy.
