About the Middle School Social Studies Teacher Position
To provide quality, Christ-centered, education for children, most of whom are children of missionaries. To create an environment conducive to learning and teach children basic academic, social, and developmental skills. Educational duties are based on grade level and subject matter/specialty.
This position would cover all our Social Studies classes for our Middle School Division (except Korean Social Studies) for one year. Our current MS Social Studies Teacher who will go on home assignment for 2019/20. There would opportunities to transition into teaching in other areas of our school in 2020/21 and beyond.
Courses Offered in this Department:
6th GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES (two semesters)
Students study the history, geography, government, economics, cultures, and peoples of Asia and Africa.
7th GRADE WORLD HISTORY (two semesters)
This course consists of an overview of world history from the Roman Empire until World War II. It will be subdivided into units on the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Age of Reason, a comparison of the English, American and French Revolutions, the Industrial Revolution, World War I, and World War II.
8th GRADE AMERICAN HISTORY AND CIVICS (two semesters) Students will study American history from Colonial America to Growth of Industry. An overview of American Civics will be mixed in throughout the year including concepts on the Constitution and the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. Geography of the United States will also be included in the course.
8th GRADE PHILIPPINE SOCIAL STUDIES (two semesters)
Students learn about basic knowledge of Philippine history, culture, geography and government.
*This is a required course for Philippine citizens
