About the Library Specialist Position
Calling all librarians! And others with library experience and skill!
One way to support our partner schools in the effort of transformational education is through a vibrant library where students can develop their critical thinking skills through reading and research. Yet we need help.
We are looking for associates to assist schools in developing effective libraries for students. A library specialist is one with training, experience, and skill in working in the library. Specialists assist schools in getting a library started and what book titles to include in their libraries; they train a staff member in using effective library activities with students; and they assist in implementing a cataloguing program and monitoring circulation patterns. Specialists also train personnel in how to effectively run a library that encourages student growth in critical thinking.
A library specialist will need to travel in order to support schools. The timing and length of travel will depend on the specific needs of the partner school. All expenses are usually paid from the member’s personal support raising account, but occasionally another funding source covers some expenses.
